While arguably short stories can be the simplest and least time consuming to write, I sometimes they are more difficult to write and sometimes just as time consuming as (if only a tiny bit less than) novels. Despite the fact that short stories have fewer characters, less action and are, as they are called, short, I often have a hard time deciding when a short story should end. It's a matter of how much I should explain, how much I should leave up to the imagination and just where the perfect ending point is. Not to mention the fact that sometimes I love a character so much that I just don't want to say goodbye. Yet at the same time, mostly thanks to high school writing assignments, I find myself with a nice, albeit small, collection of short stories. All of my stories are posted in my writing community on LiveJournal. I have it so that only members of the community can view them because they are my original work and not fanfiction. |
